Abstract
This study was designed to confirm the relationships between depressive symptoms and self-esteem of the neurotic patients who were attending psychiatric outpatient departments.
Eighty-two patients of four diagnostic groups(mood disorders, anxiety disorders, somatoform disorders, and others) finished Beck's Depression Inventory(BDI) and self-esteem scale.
There was no difference in BDI and self-esteem score according to diagnostic group. And the BDI and self-esteem scores were negatively correlated except in somatoform disorder group.
These finding supported the importance of the cognitive correlation as well as the improvement of depressive feelings.
